Math Programs
MSRI-UP
A six-week summer research program at the Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute (Berkeley) for undergraduates who have completed two years of college math. Participants receive a stipend, lodging, meals, and travel support.
Budapest Semesters in Mathematics
A semester or summer of study in Budapest, taught in English by Hungarian mathematicians, with coursework in combinatorics, number theory, and more.
Math School Smi
A summer school (running since 1971) offering basic training in mathematics and its applications, held in Perugia and Cortona in Italy.
REUs (Research Experiences for Undergraduates)
REUs are typically 6 to 8 week summer programs where undergraduates work on real math research alongside faculty, often with a stipend and housing covered. There isn’t one REU, there are hundreds, hosted by universities across the country, so the best place to start is a directory rather than a single program.

A widely used listing and application platform for math REUs, summer schools, and other research programs.
National Conferences
OURFA²M²
A free, student-run virtual conference connecting undergraduates, especially those from marginalized groups in mathematics, with resources, REUs, and mentors.
Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Wisdom in Mathematics
An annual in-person conference in Lincoln, Nebraska, where undergraduates give 15-minute talks or poster presentations on their research.
MAA MathFest
The Mathematical Association of America’s major annual summer meeting, with talks, student paper sessions, and events across all areas of mathematics.
Local & Ongoing
SpinM
SpinM is a one-week summer program that brings together undergraduate students for a collaborative first research experience in mathematics.
MAA Missouri Section Meeting
The Missouri Section of the MAA’s annual spring meeting, including the Missouri Collegiate Mathematics Competition for undergraduate teams.
Math for All in St. Louis
A local, one-day conference at SLU with short talks and a poster session, open to undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and faculty from the St. Louis area.
Competitions
AMC (American Mathematics Competitions)
A series of MAA competitions for middle and high school students, often a first step for students who later compete in the Putnam.
The Putnam Competition
The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition, a challenging annual exam for undergraduates in the US and Canada, run by the MAA.
Missouri Collegiate Mathematics Competition
A team competition for one-to-three-student teams from Missouri colleges, held alongside the MAA Missouri Section Meeting.
